Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mikeās sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed itās been a couple years since weāve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update Iāll ever share.
The bow needs an arrow and a bowstring?
It’s magic.
Well, if you look close enough you can see that there actually is a string š
the arrow is already in the monster thing and the string is a really faint line
The bow is actually strung if you look closely at the edges of it.
It just goes invisible over the shrubs.
As for the arrow…
Maybe he’s just pretending
The arrow is actually in the monster, very near to Piper’s head..
Heh. Got that cool effect where I suddenly see that it was there all along. Thanks. š
They’re totally playing an RPG. Or not.
I would have to agree with the RPG aspect… It would explain the missing string, at least, since miniatures are very rarely made with strings.
The string is there, it’s just faint. And the arrow is already in the monster’s tentacle.
That was already done in Cops and Robbers. But maybe in this one we’ll think the monster is pretend and it will turn out to be real!
It seems to me that the archer has no string attached to his bow.
He probably stole his bow from Hank, the Ranger.
I think I’m going to like this one a lot. <3 Large toothy monster interested in devouring a party member while the others point and laugh? Been there, done that, got free food at the next tavern for the story of their demise.
I remember a clever trap I used while running an AD&D game once…It was quite simple in concept but exceedingly difficult to overcome.
Covered pit trap, filled with jello.
Think about it: Jello is too thick to swim in it, too thin to stay on top, & too slick to hang onto a rope to get dragged out. It made a tavern story worthy of getting a free drink…for the survivors.
They sure look chipper for people fighting an… a… an… I don’t even– š
That is one pissed off shrub.
The bow has just been fired. You can see the arrow above Piper’s head. Doesn’t explain the lack of string though.
Maybe like cops and robbers? Or maybe they fully intend on helping him/her, but
They’re teaching piper a lesson beforehand
I’m really excited about this just because it is related to RPGs (big fan of the genre).
The arrow is lodged in one of the arms of the monster. It’s next to Piper’s head. As for the string, it’s there. Look closer, there is a subtle string that goes across. The string near the ends are more visible than the center area.
I can’t be the only one that can see the string can I? It even goes over the person’s wrist guard.
The bowstring is there. Due to the arrow just being fired (and thus still vibrating slightly) and the distance of perspective, it is only barely visible. Now that the details have been picked apart (because somehow bowstring is more significant than crazy monster for some reason), my compliments on a great page!
Thought i was taking crazy pills there for a minute when everyone said they couldn’t see the string or arrow. That’s a thin white sting on a light background so it is practically invisable but you can still see a line going over his wrist as well as the ends of the sting. As for the arrow, it seems to be firmly planted in the arm holding Piper. RPG seems a litte too obvious a route as we already had a similiar situation in “cops ‘n robbers” so i’m guessing this is a legitamate alternate dimension with magic and what not. Furthermore (though its way too early to tell) i think the plot will center around the swordsman being infected with something from the plant.
If you look closely at the bow, you can see a short line on either side of the bow; I think the broken line of the string is either an artistic decision, or it’s supposed to look like it’s still vibrating?
Im going with a Final Fantasy-esque RPG. Crazy over sized boss, four characters of differing classes: Shaman, Ranger/hunter, Warrior/Knight, Mage.
Well, just got up to speed on this site and have to say that overall I’m very impressed with your work. Please keep it up!
Yeah, total RPG vibe. But, you know, just so we don’t forget him: whose eye was that in the title page? Kinda seemed important at the time.
You know, if I had the impression that there’s no string where one is supposed to be, and the knowledge that the author of this comic rarely makes mistakes of this kind, I’d just look more closely at the page – and lo and behold, there it is! Really, people.
And to get back to the relevant things about this page, I like how their conversation is all casual, as if there isn’t a gaping maw right below her. They must be quite used to that kind of thing *g*
if the arrow is the width of a the line weight used for the art, by comparison would we see a bowstring at this distance?
BOW-STRING!!
Is it entirely wrong that I read the word Inconceivable in Vizzini’s voice
Looks like they’re playing a tabletop RPG.
But who knows, maybe something weirder is going on.
INCONCEIVABLE!
… You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Just your average D&D party.
