Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mike’s sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed it’s been a couple years since we’ve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update I’ll ever share.
I wonder if the trick here is simply to delay the zomfungoidapede long enough that the human bodies composing it are too dissolved to provide locomotion…
[and then nuke the site from orbit… ><]
That’s exactly what I thought. 🙂
Unfortunately I do not believe it to be that simple. From what I’ve seen so far, this stuff isn’t so much dissolving the people… more like it converts things into more of itself? Also considering how this whole thing started, I’m guessing this thing is fully capable of it’s own locomotion.
That said, delaying it while waiting for the self destruct sequence is a rather nice idea.
we’ve adopted the perspective of the infected
Infected? or Infested? For me infected means there’s a chance for a cure. Infested means “Once you go goo, there is no more you!”
Eww, sticky fingers.
DON’T | DEAD
OPEN | INSIDE
I only wish my houseplants had the same resolve to survive :-/
Try growing weeds instead. It’s a lot easier.
The difference between plants & weeds is that if you water & fertilize it & it dies, it’s a plant…If you pull it out by the roots & it still grows back, it’s a weed.
Then grow fig trees. Certain varieties will grow practically anywhere and are extremely hardy. You pretty much need to work hard to kill it.
I’m not sure about the fungus stance, their abilities seem to be more along the lines of replicator type nano bots, of a secondary kind and with a hive functionality. (for those that do not know there is an actual replicator type nano bot in existence, in fact thousands of varieties of them, that’s right, Viruses, viruses are a specialized replicating robot, I say robot as viruses are not actually alive, but run off of pre-programmed codes in the form of RNA and DNA, and many attempts at creating man made nanobots are based off of viruses, the only problem is how to program them to run independently
Best not at all. I’d go with making them VERY dependent on external stimuli, like an EM field. We want a tool, not a super-versatile taxonomic domain out in the wild.
Hmm. Wonder what that speck on the ground is on panel two.
Don’t dead. Open Inside.
caustic fingers? That’s no fun in the bedroom!
Also: who’s seriously wearing shorts in an arctic base? Sure, there’s heaters, but still
Science can get a little weird. Pants should not stop progress.
This has got to be the longest FP story so far…. or some shit.
And the (plot) line gets longer with each new potential host made available…
I wonder if there’s a chance they’ll “integrate” the rubber band holding the door and then get (topologically) stuck somehow.
Probably no chance at all, but it seemed like a nice idea.
It’s the hose from a suit.
Sadly, this thing still has the use of a human eye to look through the door and plan getting through. Eeek!
