Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mike’s sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed it’s been a couple years since we’ve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update I’ll ever share.
You didn’t need to put on the suit, man…
They were already outside the door ready to spit.
Man, seriously, seeing this guy in this situation makes me thinks he might have a chance at all….
He hasn’t shown any particular competence yet, but in FP competence doesn’t count for much. Making the best decisions based on experience tends to backfire badly.
I love how difficult it is to predict how long an FP story will be. This one could end in the next 2 or 3 pages, or go on for another 20. Absolutely anything could happen without feeling random or out of place.
I’m calling it: it’s going to be allergic to feathers.
Also, I love the details in the umbilical cords. I was iffy on the look of the comic at the beginning but I think the lack of detail in the figures and ground actually reinforces the gristle of the monster very well. <3
Maybe it will possess the mattress next. That would be fun to see.
I like how the style evokes retro clipart from decades ago. It’s pulpy and easy to take in all the important details at a glance. It reinforces one of this comic’s high points, how much energy and motion Big Mike is able to imply through realistic body language. The sterile appearance also goes well with the theme of the story.
The backgrounds don’t click 100% for me, but getting every line perfect would probably take even more labor than the older styles. It’s like Mozart compared to a punk rock song. You hear every note of Mozart clearly, so even a small drift stands out.
Well, one thought may be that, it subtly adds an extra sense of imbalance to the whole panel, adding to the psychology of the story.
Very generous to share your dissatisfaction buried in a backhanded compliment.
Jesus Christ! Why bother with that kind of observation? Do you think that sort of criticism is constructive or supportive? I’m amazed anyone has the balls to create content for internet consumption.
I, for one, think the art, foreground and background, serves the story and clicks 100%.
I’m thinking the fail safe for this is what they had in the “Andromeda Strain,” a facility that goes big-bada-boom on the “single man hypothesis.”
GIVE IT A SWIRLY, DUDE!
It’d be funny if it turns out this guy stole a sample and all these shenanigans were just the yeastbeast trying to get its spleen back or what have you.
klak. blech. help.
weeeooo-weeeooo-weeeooo-weeeooo
Hey Mechtroid, it’s possible that this suit might actually save him. He’s the only character in the entire episode that was smart enough to put on an actual haz-mat suit. Not a gas mask, or sterile suit, but an actual haz-mat suit. No WONDER he’s the “hero” of the story….
The guy at the door had/ has a HAZMAT suit on. It’s a different configuration with a gas mask under the face mask.
So far, smart call. Brown’s got a Mattress of +1 to Not Dying!
Well, he’s survived at least one more strip. That’s longer than anyone else since the ceiling tapioca first showed up.
But to whom is he calling out for help? Us?
Betting $100 that he flings the missed umbilical into the toilet & flushes, problem solved.
Until it goes up someone’s rectum…
Don’t you just hate those days when you feel everyone is out to get you?
Paranoia is defined as the *false belief* that someone after you. It’s not paranoia if you KNOW they’re out to get you…Believe me, this guy KNOWS it.
That’s the problem with soul patches, you just never know who (or what) will find them irresistible.
For some reason, the guys at the door seem funny
Panel 3: “Have you heard about our lord and saviour Nyarlathotep”
Panel 4: Guy at the door “Hey guys what’s up?”
Quick thinking, dude…
You mean calling for help ? Yeah, I wonder why nobody else tried that.
I meant the mattress, but if being sarky to an online stranger helps your bowel movements or whatever, you can have that one on me.
I wonder how much flesh and bone it can transform? those links seem to be a weak point, at least atm….
