Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mike’s sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed it’s been a couple years since we’ve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update I’ll ever share.
awesome!
I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best chapters yet, although Frenzy was pretty awesome
Hmmm. What exactly have they landed on? Looks like an immense mud flat that’s swallowing their ship…
Impact crater. And is it just me, or does the ship panel to the left of these stricken young ladies (young being a GROSS assumption in this comic) look a little sad?
You think? It doesn’t look a lot like an impact crater to me, though I’ll admit I haven’t seen many of those. I’d expect more.. burnage and debris at the site of a normal impact.
The panel looks kinda sad, yeah. It also looks disturbingly alien.
Definitely looks alien. it could be any sort of new elemental substance or primordial sludge.
The first thing I thought was that it might be an actual living, substance. One capable of, say, gobbling up the ladies or something just as fun and entertaining. It’s the kind of thing you expect with these comics ^^ (The chief reason I love them)
On the bright side, at least they can breathe the air.
Can they ‘though? They have fully covered faces, and those cylindrical things on the backs of the suits might be rebreathers. Hence the “four hour” comment in the last comic, probably.
That one crawl space looks like it was unsealed on both ends, with the far end to the open ‘air’ – so when they came out of their (hibernation?) pods then presumably they were exposed to whatever atmosphere was there. I think that the four hours thing refers to power supply.
Ah, good observation, I missed that it’s just a grate. However, just because they were able to breathe the mixture of the ship’s and outside’s air doesn’t mean that they will be able to do so indefinitely. And it looks like that got confirmed by the next panel anyway; unless they “need the suits” for radiation protection or heating of course – still, whatever it is, they have four hours of that.
Joel: I wonder if they are going to get eaten by an extraterrestrial who will then become immortal and indestructible?
Servo: It’s a cinch they aren’t getting their deposit back for that rent-a-car.
Crow: They hit the ground so hard they left a crater, the rest of the ship was presumably destroyed, yet they managed to survive. The contractor who built their part of the ship has my business from now on!
It looks like they landed on some kind of huge living thing.
I played enough Subnautica to now where this is going!!! :V
