Good News for People Who Like Bad News

Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mikeās sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed itās been a couple years since weāve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update Iāll ever share.
This comic has shown me that a visual transition can be just as effective as a written one (perhaps even more so) when done well. It just so happens that all of these transitions are done incredibly well.
Excellent work with the comic, the concepts are great (and creepy), the artwork is amazing, and the storytelling is quite possibly the best i’ve read….ever!

The way you describe and build up atmosphere with such little dialogue, the very subtle use of colours and the uncanny twists all of your have is simply stunning.
I really enjoy your work and am looking forward to tonight reading through them all. š

It is impossible for me to predict what others will like and I know this comic isn’t for everyone, but I like it and my hope is that other will like it too. I’m always happy to hear someone digs what I’m putting out there.
No problem! Don’t worry too much about people that say they don’t like it- they’re obviously not into your style. Listen to the people that enjoy your work, but most importantly just do what you enjoy doing!
My favourites so far (I haven’t read them all) are Concoction and Ache.
My least favourite (thus far) has been Cache, because you could see from the beginning that things were disappearing up into the trees, and so the ending didn’t really have an effective twist at all.
Wayfarer was sort of boring to me, because not much truly happened, and it didn’t leave a lasting impression, which I think is the main attraction to your twisted tales.
Your short and sweet approach is really effective- you build up the atmosphere and character, and then something bizarre happens- slightly out of place at first, and then spiralling into a deliciously weird “wtf” moment for the poor characters š
So that’s all of my opinions so far. Keep it up, I love your style, I wish there was more of it out there.
A final note- your comics remind me of Roald Dahl’s “Tales of the Unexpected” book of short stories. Yours are a little more sci-fi and gruesome, but the fun quirks and twists are all there. š

I loved Dahl when I was younger… I’m going to check that collection out asap.
This is all just… Incredible. The transitions, close-ups, and lack of words all work together to create a macabre masterpiece. I’ve never read anything like it. It’s like Edgar Allan Poe and Ursula Vernon had a collaboration comic.
I myself am attempting to be a comic artist, and if this were 200 or 300 years ago, I’d ask for an apprenticeship *laugh* I’m greatly anticipating more!! You are cooler than a monkey on fire dancing to Thriller on a spaceship!
