     Yeah, he seemed pretty willing to give it up in return for sating his curiosity.

     I guess that means he would be disinclined to give it to her if he knew more about it. Time to pull out his revolver and shoot her, then internally monologue about he he doesn’t like to shoot gals but he’ll make an exception for her, then have her dying words reveal the terrible secret.

     Or something like that.

   That woman is a tough negotiator. I wonder, though, why she doesn’t simply shoot him and take the thing. Or does she fear that he’s hidden it? I have the feeling that it has to be ‘given’ to its next owner (like the professor gave it to our sleuth).

   And to all those foretelling that he’ll frenzy out on her any minute now: When has this comic ever gone for the obvious thing?

     I’m betting that its one of those magical artifacts that cannot simply be taken. It must be freely given or goes with him to the grave. Or it could be like the mask, simply being that she actually can’t kill him
