Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mike’s sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed it’s been a couple years since we’ve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update I’ll ever share.
You’ve not so much written a story as channeled the near future.
Shit just got real!
…I mean, literally. I mean, the “real” part, not the “shit” part.
Damn, this was just awesome. XD
Called it. Sorta.
I think you did.
The first draft of the story was about depicting the imagination of the kids without a sci-fi element, but it seemed less substantial.
Props to you.
I think Riptorian also called it. Please, split the props with him.
Props split noted, but really Vyachislav, are you a wizard? I didn’t even notice the fishy dying sound effects or the refrence in the title, well done.
The thing that really makes the writing on this comic awesome quasilucid is that it isn’t impossible to guess whats coming next, just really hard. There’s a fine line a writer walks between subtle hints and obvious foreshadowing but you don’t so much as stumble.
Bravo, i wish i could have been at the wondercon to visit your booth.
Thanks for fine-line-walking compliment. I do spend a bit of time considering the offering of hints and foreshadowing while crafting each story.
And I wish everyone could have joined us at WonderCon. I’m currently exploring ways to translate more elements of the con experience into the site.
i was told the ending, but it still came as a surprise. well played.
Thanks man.
I know this is a late reply, but I just found this site, and tore through the archive in the matter of an hour. I thought the ending to this was kind of sweet, and a nice callback to how younger siblings will try to break into their older sib’s play.
Thanks for reading.
Yes, the relationship of the siblings here reminds me of how my little sister behaved when I would have friends come over while I was in high school. In spite of our dramatic age difference, she managed to insert herself into many of our shenanigans.
Hmmm.. ExistenZ comes to mind…
Oops-a-daisy.
Younger siblings…Ugh! Am I right?
