Dear False Positive Readers,
This is Ashley Walton, Mikeās sister and editor of False Positive. I have really terrible, awful news and a tiny bit of good news.
You might have noticed itās been a couple years since weāve posted anything on this website. Well, brace yourself for the saddest update Iāll ever share.
You got something in your teeth
Most people who resort to this usually have to wait until they are literally insane with desperation before they can bring themselves to even begin to try, by which point the corpse is either decaying, making things worse, or in this context, would have been frozen solid. Yet, she isn’t even hesitating to start before all of his brain cells are dead. I am going out on a limb and assume traditional Christianity and its taboos weren’t integral in her upbringing.
I don’t really think the taboo against cannibalism is a “Christian” thing specifically. Most people in the world have that taboo, yet most are not Christian.
There are many taboos at play here, as well. It’s not the cannibalism that disturbs nearly as much as it is the eating of raw, unprepared flesh directly off of a man’s face. If this weren’t False Positive, I’d presume she were simply acting out of insane aggression toward her tormenter.
The context strongly implies that they are runaway slaves around 1840-50. A leading motivation to run was to avoid seperation, but her relative indifference suggests she was a well to do house slave, perhaps even the Master’s daughter. Maybe he was being sold down river for being uppity enough to have a fling with her. He found an opportunity to run away with her, but she didn’t really want to, so he forced her to, convincing himself that it was for her own good, but gradually proved himself a hypocrite when he chained her for her “own good”.
That would explain everything…until she unhesitatingly began to eat him.
When I say she isn’t Christian, I didn’t mean she couldn’t have been raised in another faith that forbade cannibalism, so much as she had been raised in one that did secretly allow it. There are three dominate traditional Faiths in West Africa that I am familiar with, the most infamous being Vodo, elements of which had defiantly persisted under colonial noses to some extent here and there. Witchcraft of various kinds have been associated with ritual cannibalism in various stories. Perhaps she had been jaded by some bayou shaman’s secret teaching as a girl. Or maybe she is just a sociopath whose madness never found an outlet before due to misogyny. Can’t really apply Occum’s razor here, but if we could, that might be a logical direction to go in.
But why is she chained up?
I am going to go out on a limb and assume he tastes like bacon
According to what Anthropologists report from what they’ve learned from actual cannibal tribes, human flesh tastes something like pork. Hence the common term, “Long Pork.”
…Not to be confused with Pulled Pork, which you can buy in grocery stores…
tricksterwolf called it š
(pretends ignorance, hiding her ears and tail)
I somehow believe that’s the end of the story
No… that can’t be the end of the story. If I can make a weeks worth of left-overs out of a good size turkey, this dude should last a solid month with good refrigeration. If she likes the taste of wolf or bear, she could use the scraps for bait, then stab or frying-pan whatever comes through the door. He’s given her everything she needs to survive, provided she’s smarter than he is. (How the hell did he manage to catch her, anyway)
Nah. I’m guessing she opens up a Bed and Breakfast. She needs to fill her larder, afterall!
Be careful what limbs you go out on, guys, she’s about to serve them up for dinner.
Marilyn Monroe used to do that. Not quite that _severely_, though.
Heh, I hope this story doesn’t end here. I could see her turning in to a wendigo or some such native american legend. Could be fun!
Was also thinking the Wendigo thing!
*ends*
Oh, you tease.
The fact that she’s chained to the wall still hasn’t been addressed.
Two issues, each assuming she is human, strike m. I address vlan2K’s first: She could use a nice sharp bone or bone fragment to scrape her binding chain from the wall and regain free movement now that he is dead.
Second, I’d not realized she was eating him. I assumed there was a kiss and that she was performing CPR – the blood spray being expectorate thrown upwards during chest compression. It remains a plausible interpretation, even with a lip bite.
also, kudos to RyGuy for the full Puddin’ Head Wilson (by Mark Twain) context. Anyone up for some Call of the Wild treatment in a similar … er … vein?
Holy Crap! Even Hannibal Lector at least *cooked* his meals first!
Looks something like a transition between stories. Is it?
Rule number 2 in our family is, “If you ever are in a plane crash in the Andes, or other situation where you have to resort to cannibalism, eat family last”.
Simply because if anyone has a disease, that disease will be most adapted to your family’s DNA, and therefore most easily transferred between family members.
More to make sure that that we are focused on mutually beneficial goals, ie not the one to get eaten!
Looks like someone’s going to be having sweetbreads.
