31 Days of Halloween Day 3: Short Story Anthologies
False Positive Tips: Short Story Anthologies –
Speculative fiction has always worked well in the form of short story collections in the anthology format—first in books, then comics and magazines, and later in radio, TV, and film. Following in that tradition, False Positive is an anthology of short comic stories celebrating the classic pulp genres of fantasy, science fiction, crime, and horror.
I love genre anthologies in all formats. How about you?
Today, in no particular order, let’s look at a few of the short story collections that have inspired the making of FP. If you dig FP, you might enjoy these too.

Some of these authors have multiple collections and I struggled with deciding which ones to feature here.
Did I miss the mark on some of these? What’s on your list of favorite anthologies?
My favourite is a not very well known one called “Logorrhea: Good Words Make Good Stories”. It has one of my favourite short stories ever.
There’s also a mysterious book (in spanish) that I found in the attic when I was a kid, full of–not exactly scary, but unnerving stories. I never could find it again, even though it should have just remained with my other books, which only served to increase its mystique.
That’s a beautiful story about the book in the attic—halfway to a creepy urban legend.
Logorrhea: Good Words Make Good Stories— is new to me. I’m always on the lookout for a good collection. Thanks for the tip, I will add it to my reading list.
