Happy Halloween!
So, back in July, I decided to take a break from producing FP.
It's been horribly wonderful.
Back in July, I had so many lofty goals: Research/Launch a Kickstarter for a book, revamp the website, write, and decompress.
In the months since then, I've been able to write a ton and do a fair amount of decompressing, but not much else. Too many distractions have made it easy to put off working directly on FP. My computer gave up its ghost, I injured my arting hand, I injured my back, I've had to unexpectedly travel for work, and on top of that stuff, I've contended with all the rest of life and the world.
When it comes down to it, making False Positive takes a ton of time. I probably could have carved out some hours for FP, but I didn't. I've failed to make it a priority because I've been enjoying the many hours freed up for other pursuits.
When I started FP, I was full of passion for the project, but right now, I feel like I'm still a little out of gas for making the sequential art. Or at least, I'm much more excited to write than I have been to make the art.
So, for the next few months, I want to focus on making some art that isn't sequential. If I follow through, I'll share that stuff and any other progress on FP via Patreon.
And when I'm ready, I'll start making False Positive again.
Cheers!

New False Positive digital comics need new covers.
I added fresh paint to some existing art in addition to generating a new illustration for the covers of upcoming digital collections. I'll let you know when the new releases hit the digital streets.

Where is False Positive Going? Webcomic Hiatus
by quasilucid on 2018/07/18 at 11:00 AMFalse Positive is going on webcomic hiatus.
Tentatively, I plan to announce updates regarding more FP around October 2018. It would be awesome to commit to more specific targets now, but I'm not ready for that yet.
Top of my list, I need to take a break from working on False Positive. Easier said than done. That's because my brain never stops working on the stories. I've spent many sleep deprived nights with the brain worm of a story demanding my attention.
Also, presumedly after some manner of a break, I need some time to plot and scheme about where to steer FP in the future.
Currently on the False Positive brainstorming list during the webcomic hiatus:
- Update the design of the website
- The website begs for an overhaul. Perhaps something can be done about that.
- Research printing a book/ crowdfunding the printing of a book
- Between you and me, I'd love to launch a Kickstarter in October for a "best-of" volume of FP.
- Complete the preliminary work on a bunch more stories
- So many plot outlines, so little time. Scripts need to be authored. Breakdowns need to be sketched out. The sequence of stories needs to be nailed down...
- Reconsider everything
- It's time to think about the entire endeavor and how it might evolve. Nothing's off the table.
In the meanwhile, for whatever value it may or may not hold, I plan to author some blog posts, sharing some background information about the production of FP on here. Also, I will continue to share more extensive behind the scenes insights along with ongoing schemes regarding the future of False Positive along with other creations via Patreon.
The bottom line. I plan to make more False Positive and I hope that you'll all come along for the ride.
Thanks for the support!
Cheers!

Ah, what a loving family.
Universal sign language for “Dude, give me a break.”
Their children will be so well adjusted… Now, I gotta wonder what that guy was doing in his house in the first place.
Now, what an… interesting family o_o”
Doesn’t she know he’s had a rough day?
Counting to ten? That has to be code for something. Some thing like “chopping up bodies”
I think she just means counting all 10 fingers.
Counting to ten, as in counting to ten to subdue anger.
Maybe he had trouble counting ten chopped-off fingers?
“Can’t get no respect!”
I found your site a while ago through an add on the Artifice webcomic, and read everything from the beginning in two sittings (got interrupted by the kids partway through). The second-to-last page of “Cops ‘N Robbers” was the most recent update, and I’ve been lurking ever since. Your stories bring back fond childhood memories of watching the old “Twilight Zone” and “Outer Limits” shows, and your artwork has really grown on me. I think this story has been my favorite so far, although Ache and Wayfarer were really fun too.
Love your comic, and I enjoy a lot of the comments I see from your readers as well. I just wanted to pop in and say “Keep up the good work” and all that. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to comment and offer feedback and encouragement for me and fellow readers.
I’ve been a lifelong fan of anthology shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, and I’m honored if False Positive brings those shows to mind. I reflect on those type of shows a lot while shaping this comic~ they are a massive source of inspiration.
I’m having a blast working on this project & I’m thrilled there are like minded folks who enjoy reading it.
That somehow remebers me of the “Mosnter Family” Episode of some Fantasy show or other I once saw.
Creeped me out back then too, very well done!
When I saw the last panel, I couldn’t help but imagine the roaring laughter of a studio audience.
This, this fucking comic from all the others… is just the most confusing.
This is the family Dexter needed.
